About the Role
Established in 1987, Advanced Telecommunications Systems Co. Ltd encompasses a sales-driven company which exclusively flourishes in customer service. Having been involved in many sectors throughout the years, ATS proudly established a dominant position in the hotel and catering industries, governmental bodies as well as workspaces offering best-of-range telephone networks, computer networks, software design and development. Following a period of growth, we are seeking to recruit a Brand Manager for RICOH, PI ELECTRONIQUE and FOOTFALL CAM, to join our winning Sales team. The position is available on a full-time basis.

About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on engineer who can configure and support Point-of-Sale (POS) systems end-to-end—covering software builds, integrations, on-site field work, and networking. You'll be the technical face of the company: meeting customers, diagnosing and resolving issues on site, and ensuring reliable, secure payment flows. If you enjoy moving from code to cable to customer conversations, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
POS Implementation & Configuration: Install, configure, and commission POS terminals, peripherals (receipt printers, barcode scanners, etc.), and payment devices. Deploy software updates and manage version rollouts with minimal downtime. Configure item catalogs, tax rules, discounts, and user permissions.
Software Engineering & Integration: Develop, customize, and maintain POS applications, plugins, and middleware. Build and consume REST/GraphQL APIs; maintain integration adapters for third-party systems. Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
Customer-Facing Support & Field Service: Act as primary technical contact during onboarding and go-lives. Perform on-site diagnostics and repairs across Malta; deliver training to store staff and produce user guides.
Networking & Systems: Configure routers, switches, Wi-Fi APs, VPNs, VLANs, and firewall rules for secure operations. Implement uptime monitoring and remote management. Apply security best practices like PCI DSS.
Reliability & Compliance: Maintain accurate asset inventories and configuration baselines. Adhere to GDPR and data protection principles. Participate in on-call rotations for urgent fixes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years in POS engineering, field service, or similar customer-facing technical roles.
- Strong knowledge of POS hardware (Ingenico/Verifone, Epson/Star) and peripherals.
- Practical networking skills: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, VPNs, and firewall ACLs.
- Hands-on software development experience (C#/.NET, Java, Node.js/TypeScript, or Python).
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server) and basic performance tuning.
- Comfortable with Linux/Windows administration and automation scripting (PowerShell/Bash).
- Valid Category B driving licence and willingness to travel across Malta (non-negotiable).
- Fluent English; Maltese is a strong plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with payment integrations (EMV, tokenization) and acquirer/gateway APIs.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS scope reduction and network segmentation.
- Mobile device management (Android EMM, Windows Autopilot) and kiosk lockdown tools.
- Containerization (Docker) and basic cloud knowledge (Azure/AWS).
- Experience in retail, hospitality, or F&B environments.

Work Conditions & Education
- Conditions: Field-based with regular on-site visits; ability to lift and install equipment up to ~15-20 kg; participation in on-call rotations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant certifications (Network+, CCNA) are a plus.
